Prof. Weiyun SHI, a Deputy to the National People's Congress, Has Returned to Shandong and Conveyed the Spirit of the Two Sessions Immediately

On March 21, Prof. Weiyun SHI, a deputy to the National People’s Congress, the director and the secretary of the Party Committee of Shandong Eye Institute, the president of Shandong Eye Hospital, returned to Shandong Eye Hospital. As soon as Deputy SHI went back to his work, the hospital held a meeting for all the staff to listen to him conveying the Spirit of the Two Sessions. The meeting had another meeting place at Qingdao Eye Hospital, where all the staff at Shandong Eye Institute and Qingdao Eye Hospital can also listen to the whole lecture via live video.

The meeting was hosted by Hua GAO, the vice director of Shandong Eye Institute and the vice president of Shandong Eye Hospital. Deputy SHI introduced the Two Sessions and conveyed the spirit of the important speech addressed by Xi Jinping (the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, Chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission and President of the People's Republic of China (PRC)) at the closing meeting of the First Session of the 13th National People's Congress. All the staff studied the spirit of the Report on the Work of the Government and the Report on the Work of the NPC Standing Committee. Deputy SHI also gave a systematic introduction to Xi’s participation in the deliberation by Shandong Delegation.

During the two sessions, proposals by Deputy SHI focused on corneal blindness in China: firstly, promoting the standardization construction of eye bank by increasing the donation awareness among citizens, improving donation legislation and supervision system and expanding donation channels; secondly, paying more attention to the problem of cornea import and optimizing the supervision; thirdly, incorporating bioengineering research and development of cornea into major national research projects and accelerating the examination, approval and application of new products to replace cornea donated by human with bioengineering cornea. What’s more, on behalf of the medical workers, Deputy SHI also suggested adding “protecting the lawful rights and interests of medical workers and patients” into the Work Report of the Supreme People's Court, which has an important significance on the effective control of the actions disrupting the order of hospitals and damaging the lawful rights and interests of medical workers and patients and has a profound influence on the development of medical civilization.

The staff are required to strength their consciousness of the need to maintain political integrity, think in big-picture terms, follow the leadership core, and keep in alignment and closely follow the Central Committee in terms of thinking, political orientation, and actions.
